Islanders Offseason Gameplan
Islanders Offseason Gameplan
After a very disappinting seconds round sweep, the New York Islanders will have a different look next season. They will be losing David Krejci to retirement, their high end third line center. They will also be losing some big names to UFA including Zach Hyman, Dustin Brown, Brendan Gallagher, Keith Yandle, and Darcy Kuemper.
Filling those holes sounds like a massive task, however the Islanders will mostly be filling those spots from within the organization. Nikita Kucherov is poised to take his spot back from Hyman on the top line with McDavid. After missing all of this past season in the GVFHL, he will be reactivated off the prospect list with incredible ratings. Tony DeAngelo will also rejoin the team, after a year in the AHL. His ratings are also very high and he will make the Isles blueline even deeper. Adrian Kempe made a massive jump in development this past NHL season scoring 35 goals and will make his way onto the second line.
With those players jumping back into the lineup this coming season, the Islanders are really only looking at re-signing key RFA's in Quinn Hughes, Mat Barzal, Seth Jones, Tony DeAngelo, and Jusse Saros. While a move or two may have to happen for cap space, the Islanders are in great shape headling into next season even before the offseason really begins.
