Dallas Stars trade reflections

Well I had planned to back and revisit some of my bigger trades and give a full review, why I did the trade, would I do it again, who won/lost etc, but all of the old trade threads seem to be gone. Instead I’ll just try to remember a couple.

First memorial trade was the one where I got hankanpa out of phill. Kris refused to trade with me, so I approached a few teams about becoming a third party in the trade. I was eventually able to get Edmonton to make a deal with kris and then flip Hankanpa to me. I would 100% do this deal again, I won.

Mathew’s to Toronto for PLD, Connor, Provorov. I think both teams are happy with this one. I’m a big believer in depth. Though PLD and provorov haven’t reached their ceiling yet, I’d still do this trade again. I’m sure I move those two for key pieces of my cup team, and Connor turned into Stone.

To Calgary Jason Robertson, to Dallas Crosby, which eventually turned into Robertson back to Dallas for svedhnikov. Doing both deals again, and I think both teams got what they wanted based on the direction of teams.

I traded 4th overall, plus a few more first for 1st overall in 2017. I really wanted hischier, but looking back I should have just taken BPA at 4. But I’m also a believer that when you really like a guy you just need to get them. Shouldn’t have done it, but no regrets, I lost that trade.
