13- Pavel Mintyukov
In my opinion, Mintyukov is the best pure offensive defenceman in this draft, so getting him at 13 makes me a very happy Penguin. His 62 points in 67 games was the best on his OHL Saginaw team. Although his team was a dumpster fire, leading the team in points as a draft eligible defenceman is still quite impressive. Mintyukov is an exceptional skater and playmaker, and his defensive game is even solid.
163- Vladimir Grudinin
Another defenceman, Grudinin is small in stature at 5'10", but his skating makes up for that fact. Grudinin plays a well rounded game that doesn't particularly stand out in any way, but also doesn't have any noticeable flaws either. In todays NHL which is becoming faster and faster, Grudinin has the feet to keep up, which bodes well for his potential NHL future.
167- Jake Furlong
Once again another defenceman. Furlong is much like Grudinin where his skating is his best asset, but he has a bigger frame 6ft. Furlong is a strong playmaker with good skating, but his shot from the point leaves a lot to be desired. Another knock on Furlong is his lack of physicality and a below average defensive game. But being in a quality developmental organization like the Halifax Mooseheads should serve him well.
193- Vyacheslav Buteyets
Honestly I know nothing about this guy aside from he's a goalie from Russia. But goalies are voodoo, and with all the later round goalies coming out of Russia lately that was reason enough for me to take him. A good prospect to stow away and hopefully he becomes something 5 years from now.
