It's only 12 games into the year, but it seems that early on that Habs players both think and are playing like they are the team to beat this year. With a 10-0-1-1 record, they are the only team that has not been beaten in regulation yet this season. The team is a a two-way monster with the highest GF/G average(currently at 4.83), the 9th best GA/G average(2.50) and the best PP%(26.7). The only thing the Habs want to work on thus far is their PK unit, which even then is 13th in the league running at 86%.
The Habs obvious strength is scoring goals, and do they ever like scoring. Bergeron was the big ufa add as he returned to the team he won his first cup with, and he's been excellent so far leading the league in points with 22. Forsberg isn't far behind, with 21 points which include a league leading 13 goals. Stamkos adds 20 points and Meier, Duchene, and Ovie all have 18 points. Stamkos and Ovie both have 15 assists to this point which is tied for the league lead. Letang is also at a ppg pace currently as well with 4 goals and 8 assists in 12 games.
With the Habs looking for redemption after losing to the Stars in the finals last season, they are currently on a good start to get said redemption. The only question is will they keep it up? With the high end teams in the east it won't be easy, but the Habs players are up to the challenge.
