Allow GM's to take on a 2nd team?

As proposed to me by the executive committee, copy/pasted from here:

Won't take credit for this idea but me and Mangone (Devils) had breakfast the other day and were talking about the core of GMs here who are dedicated but with the league having a tough time recruiting new blood what if every GM took on 2 teams?

Some basic rules around this:

- teams need to be in diff conferences
- can't trade with your own team

It would certainly flush the league out I think, we could even make it fun with a lottery for picking your 2nd team.

It's an unorthodox idea but one I think is warranted considering we just went through a contraction and just lost Spike

Also was proposed that I shouldn't take on a 2nd team due to being the commissioner. I'm fine with this if you guys feel it is necessary.

Yes, lets get this more active. To be clear, we are not talking about losing any gms. Just to fill any teams without a Gm, and maybe we could do expansion drafts to get back up to 32 teams. Not every Gm would likely get 2 teams or have to. Mabey something like all GM's team who wants 1 would put their name in the hat, then pull out names until all teams are filled. Once we know who is getting a second team, then we could draw again for the team they would get.

me too. Random team that needs help from opposite conference, interim GM until we can get the league back on its feet?

Yes. It may end up a permanent situation, but the idea would be more interim. You main team is your team. The 2nd would be more running the team until someone is found to replace. I'm not opposed to making it a permanent thing just saying that that wasn't really the thought when we came up with the idea

I think, hopefully just on an interim basis that this is a good idea. It at least helps the league by keeping these teams engaged.

We're filling just the current teams without a gm?. Any expansion would happen in offseason right

I'm thinking before any talk of expansion, we should be getting the current 28 teams up and running with their own GM's first. I don't see the point in expanding to 30 or 32, if a few GM's are running 2 teams.
